Homeward Journey is a collection of poetry written by my brother, Leslie R. Foor, during his lifetime. I was fortunate as the years passed to see some of his writing on the printed page, but I had no idea of the magnitude of poems that he had published. As I sorted through hundreds of clippings most were brown with age and crumbled to my touch. Some poems were typewritten, others were handwritten on pieces of scrap paper, and there were those written in a letter or card addressed to members of the family. I had no idea when I started this project what emotions I would go through. Each poem was like opening a personal diary of someone you love at a specific time in their life, and being able to share their inner most thoughts. I laughed, enjoyed his wit, reminisced about our wonderful childhood, but many tears followed as I read those poems during the time of his disability. He never stopped writing even though his handwriting was barely legible as he approached the end of his struggle with Huntington's disease. I dedicate this book to my brother. No matter how difficult the obstacles became, his faith only grew stronger. Although he knew his destiny, he never gave up his desire to live. Share with me his life through the art of his poetry in this remarkable book. Proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to the Huntington's disease Society of America to continue in their search for a cure.
